The Flaming Groovies' album "Now" was the sequel to the brilliant "Shake Some Action" from Like its predecessor "Now" was produced by Dave Edmunds and the recipe for the album is roughly the same, with simple melodic rock songs, marked by the chiming guitars and great inspiration from ’s bands like the Byrds, the Beatles and Bobby Fuller Four/5(4).

The Groovies' take on "Feel a Whole Lot Better" manages to sound both like a slavish homage to, and an improvement on, the Byrds' original-no mean feat. In fact, the whole set, from the cover of Paul Revere and the Raiders' "Ups and Downs" to the Groovies' own "Good Laugh Mun," is somehow like the best music of the '60s, only better/5(7).

While it took a long and torturous five years for the Flamin' Groovies to find their way back to an American record deal with Shake Some Action, a year and a half later the band had a follow-up ready, and while 's Flamin' Groovies Now isn't quite as cohesive as the album that preceded it, in many respects the band sounds at once tighter and more relaxed, with some 5/5(3).
